Members of The Action Network are able to see betting percentages for tickets and money for every game. These are contributed to us by actual sportsbooks and are not referring to picks made by our app users. These numbers update throughout the day/week from the time lines open until the game starts.
On each of the main sport tabs, you'll see the 'BETS%' (percentage of tickets) and 'MONEY%' (percentage of money) for all of the games listed.
For example, let's say the Patriots and Jets were playing and there were 100 bets made on the game that equaled $10,000 total. Ninety of the 100 tickets were placed on the Patriots, but they only accounted for $5,000. This would mean NE was getting 90% of bets and 50% of the money.
In the Colts-Texans game above, Houston is getting 69% of bets and 86% of the money. The over is getting 72% of bets and 90% of the money. The team getting the majority of bets will always be listed. In the Bucs-Falcons game, Atlanta is getting the majority of bets and dollars, but unlike in the first example, the under is getting the majority of the action.
In this example, the away team (Oakland) is getting 55% of bets, but just 21% of the money. Similarly, the over is also getting 55% of bets, but just 38% of the money. We will always show the money percentages for the side getting the majority of bets.
You can see a further breakdown by clicking into a game's preview page and scrolling down to the 'Gameday EDGE' section.
On this page you'll be able to look at graphs to visualize the percentages and any large discrepancies. In this game, the Jets are getting 45% of bets, but 79% of dollars -- a substantial +34% difference. This suggests they're getting larger bets, typically made by sharper bettors.
You can toggle between spread, total and moneyline (ML) to see this visual breakdown for each of the three main wager types.
