One section within a game's dashboard on the app is the 'Stats' tab. Before the game, you can find team and, depending on the sport, player stats on the season.
NFL individual player statistics are shown as cumulative season stats, as shown in the picture below. Most team statistics are shown as per-game averages.
During and after the game, you can find player and team stats for that particular game.
